Jacques Marcotte

     Jacques was born on Friday, 7 October 1644 in Fecamp, Seine-et-Marne, Normandy, France. He was the son of Charles Marcotte and Jacqueline Baucher. He was christened there on 10 October 1644 in St-Leger Church.¹ In February 1667, Jacques [age 25 years] & his brother, Nicolas [age 23 years] immigrated from France to Quebec.² A contract for the marriage of Jacques and Elisabeth Isabelle Salle was signed on 9 September 1670 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. A marriage contract was drawn up between Jacques Marcotte, son of Charles Marcotte, a master butcher, & the late Jacqueline Boucher and Elisabeth Salle, daughter of Pierre Salle, a hardware merchant at the Palace & Francoise Lupia, by the notary, Severin Ameau. 1681, Jacques and Elisabeth were listed on the Canadian Census in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jacques Marcot [33 years], Elisabeth Jalle [30 years], Denis [11 years], Jacques [9 years], Jean [5 years], Genevieve [3 years] & Marie [2 years].³ Jacques departed this life between 6 April 1717 and 12 November 1720 in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. He was listed as living on the marriage records of his sons Jean Francois and Jean, and as deceased on the marriage record of his son, Michel.²
