Robert Ray1

Robert was born in 1508 in Denston, Wickhambrook, County Suffolk, England. He was the son of John Ray II and Agnes (?) Robert married Joane (?) circa 1528 in Denston, Wickhambrook. Robert made his will on 3 August 1550 at Denston, Wickhambrook.
The Will of Robert Ray of Denardeston in the County of Suffolk and Diocese of Norwich, the elder, yeoman, 3 Aug. 1550. My body to be buried in the parish church of Denardiston. My wife Johan Raye to have six cows, £3 6s.8d. a year, and during her widowhood one chamber over the new parlor. To son John Ray all my houses and lands, both freehold and copyhold, lying in the parishes of Denardiston, Straddeshull and Whyckhambrook, except certain houses and lands lying in the said parishes reserved to my son Robert Ray; that is, my house in the occupation of William Outmer with lands thereto belonging, both freehold and copyhold, a little house with a yard in the occupation of Thomas Pannell, a house and lands in the occupation of John Larner and John Baxtger, and batmans crofte with two acres of land belonging to the parsonage of Denston lying by gybbes crofte, and two acres of the parsonage land of Denardeston lying in Straddeshull in a crofte called Sherwoode Crofte. Also to him a house and certain lands thereto belonging holden by copy of the Bishop of Illeghe.2 Robert departed this life in Denston, Wickhambrook. He was buried there in St. Nicholas Church. His will was probated on 9 January 1560.
