Mary Ferris

F, b. 6 February 1640, d. before 26 January 1708
     Mary was born on Monday, 6 February 1640 in Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Jeffrey Ferris and Mary. Mary married Lieutenant Jonathan Lockwood, son of Robert Lockwood and Susannah Norman, in 1664 in Stamford. Jonathan and Mary had children: Jonathan [1664-11/09/1689], Robert [1663-5/07/1731] & Joseph [3/15/1666-6/15/1750] [m. 1698 Elizabeth Ayres & 2nd 1716 Margery Webb], Still John [1674-1758], Gershom [1676-5/01/1752] [m. 1700 Hannah Priss] & Abigail [1678-4/29/1744] [m. 1690 Thomas Baxter]. Mary's husband, Jonathan, died on 12 May 1688 in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, leaving her a widow. Mary married 2nd Thomas Merritt in 1696 in Rye, Westchester County, New York.1 The family resided in Rye, then a part of the Connecticut Colony. Mary departed this life before 26 January 1708 in Rye. She was buried at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, in Tomac Burying Ground. Greenwich is about 5 miles from Rye.2 The inventory of Mary's estate was taken on Thursday, 26 January 1708. Her son, Still John was appointed Administrator of her estate.
