Zebulon was born on Thursday, 23 October 1710 in the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Gideon Wright II and Margaret Urquhart. Zebulon married Clemence Feake, daughter of Robert Feake and Clemence Ludlam, in 1734 in the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Zebuleon was a blacksmith. They resided at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. He and Clemence were blessed with 6 children. Zebulon made his will on 9 November 1746.
Know all Men by these Presents That I Zebuilon Wight of Oyster Bay in Queens County on Nassau Island Yeoman being this ninth day of November One Thousand Hundred and Forty Six very weak and Sick of Body byt my understanding Sound and good for which I bless God therefore not knowing but that my final Change draweth nigh therefore do make and appoint this my last Will and Testament in manner following First of all I will my Soul to God that gave it me in hopes through the Merrits of Jesus Christ to inherit Salvation and my Body I give to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and appointed And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith hath pleased God to bless and bestow upon me I will devise and dispose of in the following manner – First my will is that all those Just debts which I doe Owe to any manner of person or persons shall be Satisfied and paid out of my Estate before any division be made by my Executors in the some reasonable time after my Decease - - - Item I will give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Wife Clement Wright the one equal Fourth part of my Estate to her own disposal for ever that is to say in the following manner my will is That my household Goods shall be justly appraised two Judicious persons and my wife to have them toward her portion and if they doe not amount to her part to be made up in Money and if they over goe – She to have but her part but further if my wife should choose to have the Goods sold that then they shall be turned into Money and she have her part in Money then my will I that the remainder part of my Estate [except what I shall order for my families use] shall be equally divided amongst all my Children Namely, Ann Wright Elizabeth Wright Margaret Wright and my son David Wright and where as I have reason to suppose that my wife is with Child which if it should so happen my will is that the Child she is pregnant with shall have it is equally part with my other Children and that their parts shall be paid them when they arrive of Age that is My daughters respectively at Eighteen Years of Age and my Son or Sons as the case may happen at Twenty one years of Age and that their parts be kept out at Interest until they receive there portions as much as may be by my Executors and my will is that in Case either of my Children should dye under the Age above limited and not having any Lawful Issue within the Term that such deceased Childs part shall be equally divided amongst all my surviving Children – Item I will and Bequeath unto my well beloved wife the use of the house and Lands that ____ of William Wright in this Town yet to come for her support and my Children. I also will and Order that my wife and family shall be immediately provided for in provisions for the ensueing year out of my Estate and them my will is that the Interest of the money that my Children are to have the principal of shall goe to their support of my Children for their Education until they are able to Support themselves and if it should happen that the Interest Money is not Sufficient then my Executors are desired to use the principal [in such frugal manner as will support them. I also desire my Executors to give my children suitable Schooling for their Circumstances and to be paid for out of their portions] I also impower my Executor to put out my son David to Some good Trade when he is of a Suitable age and in Case the unborn Child should be a son my will is that he be put out to a trade also at a convenient age by my Executors. Lastly I doe hereby Constitute Ordain and Appoint my loving Brother Elijah Wright and my Brother in Law Charles Feak and my friend John Cock to be my Executors of this my last Will and Testament giving them or the Major part of them full power and Authority to Execute this my last Will and Testament and every Article and Clause therein contained. Zebulon departed this life on Sunday, 13 November 1746 in the Town of Oyster Bay at age 36 years and 21 days. He was buried there in the Underhill Burying Ground in Locust Valley. His will was probated on 8 December 1746.
