     John was born circa 1658 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Adam & Jane [Hewlett] Mott. John married Sarah Seaman, daughter of Captain John Seaman and Martha Moore, in the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York. 31 August 1698, John was listed on the Hempstead Town Census. Enumerated in this household were John, Sarah, John, James, Sarah, Martha. John departed this life after 1725. After which no further mention can be found of him in records.

As in his will of 1681, he declared he was then "about sixty yeas of age", it follows that 1621 was approximately the date of his birth, and that he was twenty-six when, in 1647, he married in the Dutch church of New Amsterdam, Jane Hulet, a maid from the county of Bucks... John, who was one the sons of Jane Hulet, was born, undoubtedly on Long Island, but before Hempstead had become the family home, about the year 1658 [he was 23 in 1681] ... He married Sarah, the daughter of Capt. John Seaman and was living as late as 1727...
