Ebenezer Mather
M, b. 1730, d. 20 December 1794
Ebenezer was born in 1730 in Aquabogue in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Rev Nathaniel Mather and Ruth Havens. Ebenezer married Margaret Downs, daughter of John Downs and Margaret Howell, on 16 April 1752 in Aquabogue in the Town of Southold.1 In the 1778 census, Ebenezer Marther is listed with a family of eight in Aquebogue District. He gave his age as 48 on Oath of Allegiance & Peaceable Behavior that was required by Gov. Tryon in 1778.2 The 1790 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, the family of Ebenezer Mather - 2 males over 16; 1 male uner 16; 4 females.3 Ebenezer departed this life on Saturday, 20 December 1794 in Minisink Town at age 64 years.
