Phillip Meraw

M, b. 3 July 1872, d. 22 August 1940
     Phillip was born on Wednesday, 3 July 1872 in Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Louis-Treffle Merand and Harriett Pelland dit Beausoliel. He was christened there on 18 August 1872 in Madoc Township at Sacred Heart of Mary Church. His sponsors were Mr. & Mrs, Edward Beausoliel.1 31 March 1901, Phillip was listed on the Canadian census residing with his brother at Hungerford Township. Enumerated in the household were Thomas Meraw [5 November 1875 - 25 Ontario], Agness [26 November 1877 - 23 Ontario], Francis B. [18 Mar 1899 - 2 Ontario], Philip [3 Jul 1873 - 27 Ontario]. [District B5, page 12] Phillip sometimes lived with his brother Thomas, helping him on the farm. Phillip married Bertha (?) after 31 March 1901.2 He is later found on a land record with his wife. Phillip & Bertha had no children. Phillip departed this life on Thursday, 22 August 1940 in Hungerford Township at age 68 years, 1 month and 19 days.
