Robert Foote

M, b. before 5 March 1620
     Robert was born in County Essex, England, at the parish of Shalford. He was christened there on 5 March 1620 in St. James Church.1,2 He was the son of Nathaniel Foote and Elizabeth Deming.

Smith Jr. 1660 Harmony Drive, Clearwater, Florida 33516 - calls attention to an error in TAG 53:205-206, where it is stated by me that the baptisms of the two eldest children of Nathaniel Foote and his wife, Elizabeth [Meming?] are found in the church of St. James, Shalford, Essex. The parish church at Shalford is not S. James but St. Andrews as is shown in Crockford's Clerical Directory and in Lewis' Topigraphical Dictionary of England. St. James's is a parish in Colchester and it is in that parish that Col. Smith has found the baptisms of the two children in question. The record is at the county records office at Chelmsford. Col. Smith holds a photo copy.
