Martha Ffownes

     Martha was born circa 1611 in London, County Middlesex, England, at the family home at the sign of the three Fawns in Old Bailey. She was the daughter of Thomas Ffownes II and Anne Winthrop. Martha married John Winthrop Jr., son of John Winthrop and Mary Forthe, on 8 February 1631 in Groton, County Suffolk, England.¹ Martha departed this life in 1634 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.
