     Richard was born in County Cornwall, England, at the Bonython Manor in the parish of Cury. He was the son of Ralph Bonython and Elizabeth Erissey. He was a member of one of the most distinguished families of Cornwall. He was the heir to his father's estate. Richard Bonython paid a subsidy in the parish of Cury in the 15th year of Henry VIII [1524] the same as his father. Richard married Jane Durant, daughter of John Durant, in County Cornwall, England.

  1. [S1094] William Henry Kearley Wright, The Western Antiquary, Volume 1: page 212 - Richard Bonython, the eldest son, paid subsidy in Cury 15 Henry VIII [June 1523-June 1524]. He married Jane, daughter and heir of John Durant of Pensinans in Cornwall. Paid subsidy in Bodmin 16 Henry the VIII, being then a widow. They had issue 2 sons and 6 daughters.
