John "the Elder" Smith

     John "the Elder" was born circa 1464 in Stratford St. Mary, County Suffolk, England. He was the son of William Smith. His paternal grandfather, John Smith, left his young grand son, John, a silver salt in his will dated 3 March 1468. John had a son, John born circa 1498 in Stratford. This son, John, had a son William who wrote a will dated 1586. In this will, he mentions his father, John, and his grandfather, John. In the will of his brother, John the younger, if John the younger's son dies without issue, he states that his brother, John, is to receive all of the houses and lands.
