John Smyth

     John was born on Thursday, 7 July 1644 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Ralph & Elizabeth [Hobart] Smith. He was the son of Ralph Smyth and Elizabeth Hobart. On 23 July 1644, he was christened in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. John married Hannah Williams, daughter of Thomas Williams and Elizabeth Tart, on 24 May 1667 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. John departed this life before 26 February 1678 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. The inventory of John's estate was taken on Saturday, 26 February 1678 at Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. And presented to the court by his widow, Hannah; valued at 39 pounds.¹ At a court held on 8 Marh 1678/9 "in reference unto the personall estate of John Smith, late of Eastham, deceased, the estate being smale, and diverse childrento be brought up, this Court have settled the estate sholly upon the widdow, for the bringing up of the children, unless extream nessesitie put her on the sale of it, for the bring up of the said children."¹
