Richard Baildon

The name of Richard's first wife is unknown. She was buried 11 February 1559, leaving Richard a widow.1 Richard was born circa 1532 in Gisburn, Yorkshire, England. Richard married Margaret (?) circa 1560 in Gisburn, Yorkshire, England. Richard made his will on 3 January 1576.
In the name of God Amen. The Thirde day of Januarie in the xix yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereign lady queen Elizabeth And in the yeare of our Lord God 1576 I Richard Baildon of Hougill in the county of yorke, husbandman, sick in body and holle in mynd and of good and perfect remembrance praised be Go do make my last will and Testament in maner and forme folowinge - - -Fyrst I bequithe my soul to almyghtie God and my bodye to be buried in the churche yeard of my parishe churche of Gysburne. - - - Item I gyve and beqithe unto Margaret my wyf the one halfe of my fermhold for the Space of Twelve years next after my decease with the license of the lorde so that she keipe hie solle and unmaryed Towards the bringing uppe of my poore children unto suche tyme as my said Children shall come unto the lawfull years of aige - - - But if my wyf marrye that Then I will that The said half of my said Tenement shall wholly Remayne unto William, my sonne -- - Item I will that my debt be paide of the whole goods - - - Item I gyve the half of my third parte of goods unto Katherine, my daughter and the other half unto thre of my youngest children - - - Item I will that the Rest of my goods be divided as followithe That is to saye, To Margaret my said wyf one third parte my debts beine paid of the whole, and the other Third parte to be devided equallie amongst all my children according to athe lawable custome and use of holie churche - - - Item I ordayne, Constitute and make Margaret my said wifh and Willaim my said sonne my True and lawfull Executors to this my presente will executed performed and accomplished in every Respecte according to True meaning therof Thes beinge witnesses John Robinson, clerke, vicar of gysburne, Jame Fox, parishe clerk there and others Lawrence, William Tattersall.
Richard departed this life in Gisburn. He was buried there in the churchyard of St. Mary the Virgin on Wednesday, 7 January 1576.1
