Jean Mignault dit Chatillon

M, b. circa 20 April 1622, d. 1681
     Jean was born in Chatillon-sous-Bagneux, Ile-de-France, France. He was the son of Nicolas Mignault & Madeleine Debrie. He was christened there on 20 April 1622 in St-Jacques and St-Philippe.1 He left La Rochelle, France 4 January 1643, immigrating to Quebec. He served as a soldier in Quebec and made his living as a tailor. Jean married Marie-Louise Cloutier, daughter of Zacharie Cloutier and Sainte Dupont, on 10 November 1648 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.2 Jean & Louise had children: Jean Aubin [2/__/1650-9/05/1712][m. 4/26/1679 Anne Dugas], Marie Therese [9/09/1651-12/03/1728][m. 4/02/1665 Nicolas Lebel & 2nd. 2/06/1679 Rene Ouellet], Marie Sainte [1/06/1653-3/04/1736][m. 8/04/1669 Jean Grondin], Marie-Madeleine [6/13/1654][m. 10/21/1674 Noel Pelletier], Francoise [9/__/1656-10/27/1661], Jeanne [12/18/1658][m. 1/08/1678 Antoine Gaboury], Charles [9/12/1660], Louis [1663], Nicolas [2/18/1666-3/13/1666], Jean-Baptiste [8/27/1669], Marie [2/02/1671], Marie-Charlotte [3/10/1672] & Marie-Charlotte [3/08/1674-10/09/1747][m. 8/02/1694 Jean Dionne dit Sansoucy].3 1667, Jean and Marie-Louise were listed on the Canadian Census in Beauport, ville de Quebec. Enumerated in this household were Jean Mignet [40 years], Louise Cloutier [36 years], Jean [18 years], Sainte [15 years], Madeleine [13 years], Jeanne [8 years], Charles [6 years], Louis [4 years] & Zacharie Cloutier. Jean is farming on the fief of Zacharie Cloutier in Cote-de-Beauport. He possessed 16 acres of uninhabited land at Beauport.4 Jean departed this life by the fall of 1681 in St-Denis-de-la-Bouteillerie, Quebec, Canada.5
