James was born circa 1732 in Salisbury Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of James McCurdy and Mary Cooke. James married Ann Patterson on 15 October 1766 in Pennsylvania. Elizabeth Brown], William [1768][m. 5/29/1800 Ann Coyle], James [1770][m. 4/23/1801 Mary Polly Brown], Nancy [1774][m. 4/02/1799 James Farmer], Robert [1778-10/23/1816] & Mary Polly [7/31/1783-5/07/1869][m. 1803 Daniel Adams]. The 1800 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Path Valley, Metal Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the family of James McCurdy [00251:00300-01].2 James made his will on 28 June 1806 at Path Valley, Metal Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He mentions his wife Ann, his sons: James, John & Robert McCurdy and his daughters: Ann Farmer & Polly Adams. He mentions his son William's children: Eliza & James.
