John departed this life in Kexbie at Kexbie Hall. His will was probated on 3 December 1557. It was filed in the commistry of Lincoln.

[S756] Dorothy Maltby Verill, Maltby-Maltbie Family History, page 232 - The only reasons for believing this William Maltby to have been the father of John of Kexbie is the fact that John names a daughter Izabell, perhaps for his mother as his wife was Margerie. However, the proved line of descent is as follows:
