Abigail Leggett

     Abigail was born on Friday, 31 March 1769 in West Farms, Westchester County, New York. She was the daughter of Thomas Leggett and Mary Embree. Abigail married Thomas Wilbur in New York. Thomas and Abigail had children: Abigail [4/01/1791-1887] [m. Samuel Griffin], Lydia [1791-4/01/1863] [m. Benjamin French], Ruth 1/03/1794-5/28/1890] [m. 12/19/1816 Barnabus Wing], Jonathan [8/01/1796-6/13/1823] [m. Mercy Post], Eunice [7/03/1800-5/03/1868] [m. 3/11/1829 John M. Wilcox], Thomas Jr. [12/17/1805-9/28/1883] [m. 1825 Angeline Davis], Elias [8/19/1808-12/16/1883] [m. 10/13/1837 Lydia Barker], & Naomi [9/06/1811-8/02/1863] [m. 8/17/1840 Daniel Wilson Leggett]. Abigail's husband, Thomas, died on 19 September 1832 in Saratoga Township leaving her a widow. 14 November 1850, the U.S. Federal Census listed Abigail living in the home of her son at Saratoga Township, Albany County, New York. Enumerated in this household were Lawrence H. Wilber [40 New York], Lydia [38 New York], Madison [4 New York], Franklin [2 New York], Abigail [81New York], Bridget Pardon [26 Ireland] & George Inoman [18 New York]. Their farm was valued at $7000.1 Abigail departed this life on Monday, 12 April 1852 in Saratoga Township, Saratoga County, New York, at age 83 years and 11 days. She was buried there in Quaker Springs Cemetery. The insciption on her tombstone reads: Abigail wife of Tomas Wilber - Died 12. of 4 mo. 1832 - AG 63 yrs. & 12 ds.2
