Christopher Hawkhurst

     Christopher was born circa 1608 in Warwick, Warwickshire, England. He was the son of Samson Hawkhurst and Miss ___ (?) Christopher married Mary Ruddock in 1655. Christopher and Mary had children: William, Mary [m. 11/17/1684 George Townsend s/o John And Elizabeth Townsend], Jane [m. Jarvis Mudge], Sarah [m. William Crooker] and Samson [1670- 11/09/1732] [m. 1/18/1698 Hannah Townsend d/o Mill John and Joanna Townsend]. Christopher, Richard Townsend and John Carpenter moved to Oyster Bay in early 1665. Later that year on 12 December, Christopher aquired land amounting to about 70 acres from Simon Searing at Matinecock. Title to this land was aquired from the Indians in 1667 by Henry Rudduck.¹
