Thomas Grymwade

M, b. circa 1461, d. before 12 November 1529
     Thomas was born circa 1461 in Nedging, County Suffolk, England. He had a brother, William [1470-<8/29/1557] will dated 1554.1 The name of Thomas' first wife is unknown. Thomas made his will on 10 June 1528.

I Thomas Grymwade of Neddyng . . . Toeach of the high alters of the churches in Nedging, in neighboring Bildeston, and in neighboring Naughton, he gav six shilling eightpence. To that of Whatfield he gave three shillings four pence. For th Refreshment of the poor people of the same towns the day “of my buryynge “ he gave seven shillings four pence. For a priest to synge for my souwle by thespace of oon yeer in Neddyng chuche he provided six pounds thirteen shillings four pence . . . I bequeathe all my howse & landys staandyng and being in Neddynge bylston & Watfeld to Thomas my son excepte the Tenement . . . called Cookys within the Town of Neddyng – whiche I bequethe to Thomas Grymwade my godson The eldest son of my son Thomas . . . to entre in to yt and to Receyve the profitys therof at the age of xxi yeers . . . Anne my wyffe shall have my howse & lande lying in Nawton . . . terme of hyr lyff And aftyr hyr dyseeasse to remayne to Thomas my son . . . to Anne my wyff iij of my horses & v of my net my wyffe to hae the furste choyse o one of eche & myn Executors to chose too of the nexte & my wyf the next choyse . . .to my seyd wyff xj shepe of the beste & a featherbed hooll as yt standyth and all the same stuff of howsehold that she browght with hyr and halfe my swine . . . iiij quarters of whete & vj quarters of malte . . . myn Executors . . . Thomas Grymwade my son & William my brother . . .2

Thomas departed this life in Nedging. His will was probated on 12 November 1529.
