Sir John Grey
M, d. 1271
John was born. He was the son of Richard de Grey. In his younger years, John fought for his king, serving first in France and later in battles in Wales, these last explots being in the1260's. Some years later, he and those he retained sided with Simon de Montfort, and because of it, had his lands and holdings confiscated by the King. Within the year, however, he had his estates returned to him and were inherited by his son at his death.1 John departed this life in 1271 in Derbyshire, England, at Codnor Castle.
