Robert Greene1
M, b. circa 1499
Robert was born circa 1499 in England. He was the son of John de Greene. He was the one who purchased the estate at Bowridge Hill in the parish of Gillingham, Dorchestershire. During this time period there were many subsidy rolls taken, but most of them that relate to Gillingham are missing. However, Robert does appear on three of those that have survived. The first is during the reign of King Henry VII in 1543, the second, in Edward VI reign, 1547, and the third, in first year of Queen Elizabeth's reign in 1558.2 After his death, his estate at Bowridge Hill passed to his eldest son, Peter.
