Harriet Decker

     Harriet was born in 1814 in Hardyston Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of James Decker and Sarah Norman. Serring and Harriet had children: Caroline [1833], Charlotte [1840], Mary [1842] & James [1848]. Harriet married Saron Beach Munson in 1832. 23 July 1850, Harriet and her husband, Saron, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Independence Township, Oakland County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Serring [39 New Jersey], Harriet [36 New Jersey], Caroline [17 New Jersey], Charlotte [10 New Jersey], Mary [8 New Jersey] & James [2 Michigan].¹ Harriet departed this life in 1877 in Oakland County, Michigan, at age 63 years. She was buried at Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan, in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The inscription on her tombtone reads: Harriet Decker Munson wife of Saron B. Munson.
