Henry de Deighton

     Henry was born circa 1483 in the hamlet of Deighton in the parish of Deighton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. He was the son of John De de Deighton. Henry married Alice (?) in Yorkshire, England. She was the widow of Robert Petty. Henry was admitted a freeman in 1504. He was made City Chamberlain of York in 1522. This is the office to which all city revenues were paid. He was sheriff 1524-25 and alderman 1525-1551. Alderman was a position of senator or governor. He was also Lord Mayor of York in 1531.
