Jonathan was born on Wednesday, 11 January 1712/13 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.4 He was the son of Isaac Crowell and Ruth (?) Jonathan married Anna Nickerson, daughter of Ensign William Nickerson IV and Anna Atwood, on 13 July 1738 in Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. They were married by Joseph Doane, Justice of the Peace.5 Jonathan's wife, an unknown person , died before 17 October 1756 in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower. Jonathan married 2nd Elizabeth Parker on 17 October 1756 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Jonathan & Elizabeth moved to Barrington, Nova Scotia in 1762.6 Jonathan departed this life before 20 December 1769 in Barrington, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia, Canada. On this date, his son, David, was appointed guardian of the younger girls.
