Dorcas Covell

     Dorcas was born in 1714 in Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Joseph Covell and Hannah Bassett. Dorcas married James Nickerson, son of Ensign William Nickerson IV and Deliverance Lombard, circa 1730 in Chatham. James and Dorcas had children: Mary/Mercy [1731] [m. 4/18/1752 Thomas Nickerson], Joseph [1734-1764], William [1736], Eliphaz [1739] [m. Sybil Norris], Samuel [1741-8/02/1787] [m. Lydia Phillips], Ezra [1745] & Dorcas [8/24/1748-10/23/1825] [m. 10/05/1767 Jona Osborn].¹ Dorcas's husband, James, died before 5 December 1757 in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut, leaving her a widow. Dorcas departed this life in 1803 in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
