Timothy Carpenter1

Timothy was born in 1643 in Pawtuxet, Providence County, Rhode Island. He was the son of William Carpenter and Elizabeth Arnold. Timothy married Hannah Burton circa 1674 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.2 Timothy and Hannah had children: sons, Timothy [1680-8/02/1749] [m. Mehitable Fraser] William [ - 10/29/1708 - drowned], and daughters, Ethalanna [m. Daniel Sweet], Elizabeth [-1766] [m. Peleg Williams] and Hannah [m. 12/09/1709 Elisha Arnold].3 Timothy made his will on 1 December 1724 at Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. In his will his daughter Ethalanna Brooks received 20s, his daughter Elizabeth Williams received 3 pounds, his daughter Hannah received 5 pounds in goods or money, his granddaughter, Hannah Arnold Carpenter received 10 pounds in household good and money, his grandson Phillip Sweet received 30 acres of land by gift of deed. His son Timothy, received the remainder of the estate and appointed executor. Witnesses: Richard Bond, Corpe, Richard Waterman Junior.4 Timothy departed this life on Monday, 19 August 1726 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. The inventory of Timothy's estate was taken on Sunday, 15 September 1726 by Richard Sholdon, James Arnold & Joseph Carpenter. The estate was valued at £185 13s. 6d. His will was probated on 19 September 1726.
