     William was born in England. He was the son of John Chauncey III. William married Johane Bustard, daughter of John Bustard and Elizabeth Fox. In 1543, the Edgcote estate was bought from the crown by William.3 William's wife, Johane, died on 7 May 1571 in Edgcote, Northamptonshire, England, leaving him a widower. William departed this life on Saturday, 6 April 1585 in Edgcote, Northamptonshire, England. He was buried in Edgcote, Northamptonshire, England, in St. James Church.4 His will was probated on 11 May 1585. It was administered by his son, Toby.
