Humphrey Blake

Humphrey was born circa 1552 in Plainsfield, in the parish of Over Stowey, Somersetshire, England.1 He was the son of John Blake "the Elder" and Joan (?) Humphrey married Agnes James on 23 October 1578 in Over Stowey at St. Peter & St. Paul Church.1 Humphrey & Agnes had children: Humphrey [11/13/1580], John [4/25/1583], Richard [9/__/1585], Joan [5/23/1588-5/23/1588], Robert [6/08/1589] & Arthur [6/11/1592].2 He was a clothier. Humphrey's wife, Agnes, died before 10 August 1602 in the parish of Over Stowey, leaving him a widower. Humphrey married 2nd Ann (?) in 1603.1 Humphrey & Ann had children: John [6/22/1604], Edward [10/01/1605-7/27/1606], Edmund [8/16/1607] & Mary.2 Humphrey made his will on 21 September 1618 at Thame, Oxfordshire, England.
In the will he mentioned sons Edmund, Robert, and John; daughter Mary, and wife Ann. The executors, including a number of relatives, were to be Robert Perry, gent., Humphrey Blake of Bridgwater, gent., William Blake, Richard Blake of Stogumber, gent., Robert Blake, John Richards, John Selleck, and Roberte Selleck.3
Humphrey departed this life before 20 March 1620 in the parish of Over Stowey, Somersetshire, England. He was buried in Over Stowey, Somersetshire, England, in St. Peter & St. Paul Churchyard. The monumental inscription of Humphrey Blake Sr. in the Over Stowey parish church calls him a clothier of Over Stowey.1 His will was probated on 17 June 1620.
