"Middle" John Wright
M, b. 19 June 1522, d. before 22 June 1560
John was born on Monday, 19 June 1522 in Kelvedon, Kelvedon Hatch, County Essex, England. He was the son of Sir John Wright and Olive (?) John and Alice had children: John [1542] [m. Judith Lindsell and 2nd. Bennett Greene], Robert [ca. 1550-4/__/1624] [m.Jane Butler], John [bur. 2/04/1553/54], Olive [m. 10/19/1563 Richard Smith], Dorothy [11/28/1563 John Hary], Alice & Agnes [the child mentioned in the will who had not yet been born].1 He inherited the Manor of Dagenhams from his father in 1551. John made his will on 16 August 1558.
In his will he styled himself as of Wrightsbridge in the parish of Hornchurch in the County of Essex, tanner He requested burial in the parish church of South weald and made bequests to the high alters of South Weald and Romford, and gave to the poor of South Weald and Romford. His bequests to his wife Alice were mad conditional on her agreeing to let his executors dispose of property in Romford and South Weald that he held in the right of the said Alice. He made numerous bequests to his two sons John and Rober Wright, both of whom were under 21. He mentions his “Aunt Hubbard,” his mother not named, his three daughters Olyff, Dorathey, and Agnes, Kateryn Woode my wife’s daughter and the child that my wife goyth with. He also makes a small bequest to his Awnte Dowsett. He named as executors his brother John Wright and his brother Robert ructWright of Brokestreet and he instructed them to sell my stoke concerning my occupation and all other moveables unbequeathed for the performance of this my testament and last will. He name as overseers my brother Yonge John and John Rucke my wife’s uncle Witnesses: John Fuller, Nicolas Holman, Richard Elward and William Savage.1
John was noted as "deceased" in his father's will. He therefore died before 22 June 1560.
