Inman was born circa 1733 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. He was the son of James Walling II and Susannah Inman. Inman married Anna Smith circa 1770 in Orange County, New York. Inman & Anna had children: James [2/04/1772-2/13/1824] [m. Bethia Wickham], Joseph [1774-1810], Phebe [1776-] [m. Seth Wickham], Oliver Smith [1779- ] [m. Martha Mather], Mary (Polly) [1781-1804] [m. Jacobus Rosencranse], Inman [1784- ] & Gabriel [1788-1857]. The 1790 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, the family of Inman Walling - 3 males over 16; males under 16; 4 females.3 Inman made his will on 2 November 1801 at Minisink Town, Orange County, New York. In his will he mentions his wife Anna and his children. Inman departed this life before 1 June 1802 in Minisink Town, Orange County, New York. His will was probated on 1 June 1802.
