Richard was born in 1612 in Butcombe, Somersetshire, England. He was the son of John Willett II and Elizabeth Buver. Richard married Mary Washbourne, daughter of William Washbourne and Jane Whitehead, circa 1649 in the Town of Hempstead, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He and Mary were blessed with 6 children. They resided in Lucum which bevame known as Jericho. Richard departed this life in 1664 in Jericho in the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York.
