Thomas was born circa 1588 in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. He was born at Bourne. He was the son of Thomas Wheeler. Thomas married Ann Halsey, daughter of Robert Halsey alias Chambers and Ellen Alley alias Cooke, on 5 May 1613 in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. On 3 October 1635, Thomas immigrated aboard the ship "Defiance" landing in New England. He brought his whole family which included his wife, children, and some grandchildren. He was made a "freeman" in Concord, Massachusetts on 17 April 1636. He removed, with Rev. Thomas Jones, to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1644, settling at Peqoneck on the Uncoway Brook. Two and a half acres are recorded on and dated January of 1649. Thomas made his will on 5 May 1654 at Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He mentions his wife, Ann; his elder son: Thomas; daughter Sarah, wife of Thomas Sherwood; four grandchildren: Mary, James, Thomas & John Bennett; his son John; & his brother Liet. Thomas Wheeler. Thomas departed this life after 5 May 1654 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
