John was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of Thomas Truesdale and Margareta (?) John married Isabelle Warde on 16 April 1570 in Boston at St. Botolph's Cathedral. John departed this life in Boston. He was buried there in the churchyard of St. Botolph's Cathedral on Wednesday, 25 December 1585.
