Mary Torrey
F, b. 21 August 1729, d. 25 August 1812
Mary was born on Sunday, 21 August 1729 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Samuel Torrey and Abigail Snowden. On 30 April 1748, Mary appointed her uncle William Torrey, a baker in Boston, to be guardian of her inheritance from her uncle David Snowden, also of Boston.1 Mary married Ebenezer Hall on 5 January 1757 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut.2 Ebenezer & Mary had children: Rachel [7/05/1759-6/12/1831][m. Torrey Scranton], Mary [8/14/1760-11/27/1836][m. 3/29/1796 Isaac Johnson & 2nd. 1813 James Bishop], Ebenezer [3/02/1763-6/27/1770], Joseph [12/17/1766-1835][m. 3/31/1793 Mary Wick], Benjamin [12/17/1766] & Gilbert [11/08/1768-10/22/1821].3 Mary's husband, Ebenezer, died on 8 January 1809 in Guilford leaving her a widow. Mary departed this life on Tuesday, 25 August 1812 in Guilford at age 83 years and 4 days. She was buried there in the Old North Cemetery.
