Jane Smith

     Jane was born circa 1481 in Stratford St. Mary, County Suffolk, England.¹ She was the daughter of William Smith and Katherine Brown. In her father's will of 29 October 1492, she is described as being his youngest daughter and under the age of 14 years. She is to receive 100 pounds at marriage or at the age of 22 years. Jane made her will. In an undated will, Jane bequeathed money given her in her father’s will of 3 March 1492 to buy a silver cross for the church with the remainder going to her mother, Dame Katheine Smyth.¹ Her will was probated on 18 June 1510.
