Joseph-Francois Sylvestre dit Champagne

Joseph-Francois was born on Saturday, 10 November 1742 in Ile-DuPas, Quebec, Canada. He was christened there on 11 November 1742 in the church of La Visitation.1 He was the son of Nicolas Sylvestre and Marie Elisabeth Isabelle Laporte dit St-Georges. Francois married Marie-Josephe Bergeron, daughter of Jacques Bergeron and Marie-Anne Dubois, on 23 January 1764 in Sorel, St-Pierre-De Saurel, Quebec, Canada, at St-Pierre Church.2 Joseph-Francois's wife, Marie-Josephe, died on 3 June 1795 in St-Cuthbert, Berthier County, Quebec, Canada, leaving him a widower. Joseph-Francois departed this life on Tuesday, 6 April 1813 in St-Cuthbert at age 70 years, 4 months and 27 days. He was buried there in the churchyard of St-Cuthbert on Thursday, 8 April 1813.3
