Thomas was born in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He was christened there on 23 December 1637. He was the son of Elder John Strong II and Abigail Ford. Thomas married Mary Hewett on 5 December 1660 in Massachusetts. Thomas and Mary had children: Thomas [11/16/1661-][m. 11/17/1683 Mary Sebbins], Mary [8/31/1663-8/00/1684], John [3/09/1665-], Hewet [12/02/1666-] & Asahel [11/14/1668-].2 Thomas's wife, Mary, died on 20 February 1670 in Massachusetts, leaving him a widower. Thomas married 2nd Rachel Holton, daughter of William Holton and Mary (?), on 10 October 1671 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.
