John Stedman III

John was born on Friday, 1 September 1679 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of John B. Stedman II and Violet Shepard. John married Abigail Andrews, daughter of Samuel Andrews and Elizabeth Spencer, circa 1703 in Connecticut. John's wife, Abigail, died between 20 March 1725 and 24 October 1725 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut, leaving him a widower; Her death came between the birth of her last child & her husband's remarriage. John married 2nd Mary Wheeler, (widow of John Adkins) on 24 October 1725. She was born 24 OCT 1684 in Stow, Middlesex Co., MA and died 11 JUL 1755 in Middletown, Middlesex Co., CT. John departed this life before 7 June 1737 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. On 7 June 1737, the court granted his wife, Abigail, administration of his estate. The court accepted her accounts on 2 February 1744. The inventory of John's estate was taken on Tuesday, 19 January 1740. It was taken by Joseph Hawley, Isaac Cowles, and H. Deming. They valued the estate at £103 14 shilling 3 pence.1
