3 Nellie's husband, Jefferson, died on 25 September 1863 in Kingston leaving her a widow. Nellie departed this life on Wednesday, 27 December 1882 in Kingston at age 79 years. She was buried there in the Wiltwyck Cemetery. Tinscrikption on her tombstone reads: Jefferson Townsend died September 25, 1863 aged 63 years 6 months. His wife, Nellie M.
