John was born in Hundon, County Suffolk, England.2 He was christened there on 17 March 1582 in St. Peter and St Paul.3 He was the son of Thomas Rowning "wheelwright" and Alice (?) The name of his first wife is not known. John married Susannah (?) on 6 December 1621 in Hundon at St. Peter and St Paul. John made his will on 30 November 1639 at Hundon, County Suffolk, England.
The will of John Rowninge of Hunden in the County of Suffolk, yeoman, 30 Nov. 1639. To Mary Ray my grandchild £12 to be paid her at the age of twenty-one years out of a piece of free land called Longland lying in Hunden, abutting upon a lane called Gensmeere Lane. If Simon Ray, husband of my said daughter shall die before the widow Ray his mother, then my said daughter shall have 40s. per annum paid unto her by my executor, so long as the said widow Ray shall live. To Simon Raye my grandchild, £6 to b paid unot him by my executor when he shall accomplish the age of twenty-one years. To Mortlock and Susan Allen, my daughters-in-law, £5 apiece. To the poor of Hunden 40s. All residue to son Thomas Rowninge, he to be executor. - - -John Rowninge - - - Witnesses: Humphrey Allin and John Frost.4
