Simon Ray I1

M, b. circa 1574, d. between 4 July 1626 and August 1626
     Simon was born circa 1574 in Clare, County Suffolk, England. He was the son of Robert Ray II and Margery Bigg. Simon married Sarah Pilgrim circa 1603 in England.2 He made his will 4 July 1626 at Cowling, County Suffolk, England.

The will oof Symond Raye of Hunden in the county of Suffolk, yeoman, 4 July 1626. To son Symond Raye all my copyhold lands in Wickehombrock in the County of Suffolk and to his heirs forever, to be holden according to the custom of the manor whereof they be holden, upon condition that he pay the following legacies to other of my children: to daughter Judah Raye £40, to son John Raye £40 at the age of eighteen years; to daughter Dennys Raye £40 at the age of twenty-one years. If son Symond Raye fail to pay the above legacies, then the said copyhold land to fall to son Philemon and his heirs. To wife Sara Raye a meadow call Bricknell meadow lying in Cowlegge in the County of Suffolk, for the term of eight years after my decease, and all my goods and chattels, on the condition that she pay unto other of my children as follows: to daughter Anne Raye £40 witin two years after my decease; to daughter Marie within four years after my decease; to son Richard £60 within 10years after my decease; bond of £200 unto my brother John Raye of Stragewell and brother Ambrose Raye of Wickehambrook for true payment of the aforesaid legacy. Residue of all goods and chattels to wife Sara, she to be sole executrix. - - - signed Symond Raye - - - Witnesses: Antonie Tompson and John Raye.3

Simon departed this life between 4 July 1626 and August 1626 in Cowling, County Suffolk, England. His will was probated in August 1626.
