     John was born on Monday, 1 July 1641 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.3,4 He was the son of Edward Richards and Susanna Hunting. On 12 August 1641, he was christened at Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. John married Mary Colburn, daughter of Nathaniel Colburn and Priscilla Clarke, the 1st day of the 8th month 1672 in Dedham, County Sussex, England.5,6,7 The family were Puritans. They resided at Dedham, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts. John's wife, Mary, died on 17 December 1685 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower.8 John married 2nd Mary Fuller circa 1686 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.9 John departed this life on Tuesday, 21 December 1688 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He was buried in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. On 24 February 1692/3, the probate court issued a warrant to five men to divide John Richards land, three of them reported ac on 23 March 1692/3. The reports states lands were set off to: the widow, her thirds and to the following children: John Richards, eldest son, Samuel Richards, second son, Mary Fairbanks, eldest daughter, Deborah Richards, second daughter, & Joanna Richards, youngest daugher. John did not leave a will. On 14 March 1688/9, his wiife was appointed administratrix of his estate.10 The inventory of John's estate was taken on Monday, 23 March 1692/93. It was valued at £327, 1 shilling, 2 pence.
