Marie-Catherine Pinel

     Marie-Catherine was born on Sunday, 7 April 1658 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Gilles Pinel and Anne Ledet. She was christened there on 10 April 1658 in the Basilica of Notre Dame.¹ A contract for the marriage of Marie-Catherine & Denis Masse was signed on 17 October 1671. The contract states that Denis was living in Cote-deSt-Ignace, in the pairsh of St-Michel, Sillery, and that is parents are Pierre Masse & Marie Pinet. Catherine is living in Silley, and her parents ar Gilles Pinel an d Anne Ledette. The notary Romain Bequet drew up the contract..² Marie-Catherine's husband, Denis, died, leaving her a widow. Marie-Catherine married 2nd Jean Prou on 2 November 1676 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.³ Jean & Catherine had children: Rene [8/07/1677], Marie-Catherine [10/24/1678-4/04/1760][m. 4/19/1700 Jean-Baptiste Arbour], Jean-Baptiste [12/22/1679-9/18/1760][m. 1/16/1713 Genevieve Arbour], Louis [3/11/1681-3/19/1681], Marie Elisabeth Ursule [4/28/1682-5/30/1762][m. 5/25/1705 Jean-Baptiste-Francois Bossu], Anne [8/23/1684-12/16/1737], Francois [3/24/1686-12/03/1749][m. 2/20/1713 Therese Faucher dit St-Maurice], Marie Madeleine [8/23/1688-7/24/1778][m. 5/04/1711 Francois-Augustin Arbour], Marie Therese [8/16/1690-10/24/1758][m. 11/09/1711 Andre Daigle dit Lallemand], Claude [9/17/1692-7/01/1736][m. 1/18/1716 Marie Anne Bibeau and m. 2nd. 11/25/1717 Isabelle Robida dir Manseau], Alexis [10/27/1694-4/29/1757][m. 2/16/1724 Francoise Robida dit Manseau], Joseph [3/05/1697-11/17/1756][m. 11/06/1726 Marie Therese Aide dit Crequy] & Marie Felicite [3/01/1699-3/25/1759][m. 2/10/1718 Jean-Louis Brousseau].⁴ Marie-Catherine's husband, Jean, died on 9 December 1703 in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow. Marie-Catherine departed this life on Sunday, 13 June 1723 in Neuville at age 65 years, 2 months and 6 days. She was buried there in St-Francois-de-Sales Church, Pointe-Aux-Tremples on Monday, 14 June 1723.⁵
