Claude Pinard

Claude was born circa 1667 in Champlain, Les Chenaux County, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Louis Pinard and Marie-Madeleine Hertel. In August of 1691, he was given a permit to travel to the west [to Lake Huron] to trade for furs. There were very few of these permits given by the French government. A contract for the marriage of Claude and Francoise Gamelin was signed on 10 October 1694. It was drawn up by notary Jean-Baptiste Pottier. It noted that Claude Pinart was the son of Louis Pinart & Marie-Madeleine Hertel. And it noted that Francoise Gamelin was the daughter of Michel Gamelain & Marguerite Crevier.1 Claude and Francoise had children: Marie-Louise [1696-4/30/1768][m. 4/07/1717 Jean-Baptiste Mongeau], Michel [1698-4/11/1735 [m. 10/18/1723 Marie-Angelique Ritchot], Marie Charlotte Joseph [6/06/1700-4/11/1735][m. 7/01/1723 Pierre Chapdelaine dit Lariviere], a daughter [1703-7/27/1709], Marie-Agathe [3/06/1707-5/24/1750][m. 1/28/1726 Francois Niquet] & Francois-Joseph [9/30/1708].2 Claude departed this life in St-Francois-du-Lac, Yamaska County, Quebec, Canada. He was buried there in the cemetery of St-Francois-du-Lac on Friday, 19 April 1748.3
