John de Lumley de Peshale1,2

     John de Lumley de was born circa 1101 in Staffordshire, England, at the Manor of Peshale in the parish of Eccleshall. He was the son of Robert fitz Gilbert de Corbeil de Peshale and Ormunda de Lumley. John received a deed from his parents granting him their property at Wodeshende located within Lumley in county Durham. The purpose of this deed was to give their son & heir an estate as would enable him to marry a lady of the rank of the heiress of Swynnerton. John married Miss (?) fitz Alan, daughter of Robert fitz Alan, in England.
