Ruth Beard

     Ruth was born in 1663 in County Sussex, England. She was the daughter of Richard Beard III and Rachel Robins. Ruth married John Gaither circa 1677 in Anne Arundel County. John and Ruth had childern: John [1/15/1677/78- 6/20/1739][m. 8/21/1701 Jane Buck & 2nd. 8/20/1719 Elizabeth [Duvall] Warfield], Ruth [9/08/1679][m. 2/16/1696 John Warfield & 2nd. 6/17/11719 Daniel Carter], Benjamin [2/20/1681/82-8/31/1741][m. 9/08/1709 Sarah Burgess], Rachel [4/19/1687][m. 4/18/1706 Samuel White], Edward [9/28/1689-4/10/1741][m. 2/21/1709 Mary Duvall, 2nd Rachel & 3rd. 8/19/1734 Margaret [Sellman] Williams], Mary [4/13/1692-1737][m. 2/09/1709 Joseph White & 2nd. Edward Nichols/Nicholson], Rebecca [5/24/1695][m. Ralph Simpson/Stimson] & Susannah [7/22/1697-10/09/1717]. These are all baptismal records from All Hallow's Parish. Ruth's husband, John, died before 12 November 1702, leaving her a widow. Ruth married 2nd Francis Hardesty on 13 January 1702/3 in South River at All Hallow's Parish Church.¹ Francis and Ruth had a child: Francis [2/27/1707/08][m. Alice Brown]. Ruth departed this life in South River. She was buried there in All Hallows Church Cemetery on Thursday, 5 October 1719.²
