Joshua Baldwin

M, b. before 24 January 1691/92, d. 20 April 1758
     Joshua was born in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He was christened there on 24 January 1691/92 in the first Church of Milford.1,2 He was the son of Jonathan Baldwin and Hannah Ward. Joshua married Elizabeth Guernsey circa 1725 in Milford at the first Church of Milford. Joshua and Elizabeth had children: Joshua [12/14/1726-12/21/1821] [m. 1773 Abigail Beard] and Elizabeth [10/281728-2/10/1813] m. Moses Northrup. Joshua and Elizabeth were admitted to the Milford Church on 3 September 1727.3 Joshua's wife, Elizabeth, died on 20 November 1753 in Milford leaving him a widower. Joshua departed this life on Thursday, 20 April 1758 in Milford. He was buried there in the first Church of Milford Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Here lies buried the body of Mr. Joshua Baldwin who departed this life April 20th 1758 in ye 67th year of his age.4
