Matthew Allen
M, b. 1627, d. before 1 May 1695
Matthew was born in 1627 in Weymouth, Dorchestershire, England. He was the son of George Allen and Katherine Starke of Sandwich.1 On 20 March 1633, Matthew immigrated from Weymouth, England with his parents. Matthew married Sarah Kirby, daughter of Richard Kirby [Curby] and Jane (?), on 5 June 1657 in Sandwich, Cape Cod, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Matthew and Sarah had children: Dorothy [4/08/1659] [m. John Colvin], Miriam [June 1661] [m. James Easton], Deborah [May 1663], Samuel [February 1665], Mary November 1668], Ahazadiah [4/02/1671] & Matthew [6/10/1677]. Matthew made his will on 7 February 1688 at Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
William Allen of Dartmouth being sick but sound of mind and perfect memory. He forgives debt of £ 13 of his daughter, Dorothy and her husband John Colvin. His wife to have a convenient house room. Sons Samuel and Matthew to divide land equally. Daughters Miriam, Deborah, Mary & Ahazadiah to each receive a cow at the age of 18. His wife Sarah to be Executrix. Witnesses: John Russell Thomas Tabor & Val Hutchinson.2
Matthew departed this life in Dartmouth. The inventory of Matthew's estate was taken on Sunday, 1 May 1695 by John Sharman and John Turbor. The estate was appraised at £127 2s. His will was probated on 23 May 1695.
