24 September 1620 Joseph Holton, son of Edward. He was buried in Ipswich, County Suffolk, England, in the yard of the Nayland Church.2 The family resided at Wiston Manor Farm in the parish of Holton St. Mary's. This is not to be confused with Wiston Hall, the ancient manor house. It has been home for the Holton family for many years, up into the nineteenth century. Wiston is a rural hamlet adjoining the village of Nayland. Both the village and the hamlet share their names with an ecclesiastical parish. Today [2008] the official name of the hamlet is Wissington, the civil parish is now the combined Nayland-with-Wissington. However, the inhabitants of the area still use the older name Wiston.
