     James was born on Saturday, 4 May 1686 in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. James married Hannah Coe, daughter of Captain John Coe and Mary Hawley, on 16 September 1709 in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. James's wife, Hannah, died on 26 March 1758 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut, leaving him a widower. James made his will on 8 February 1762 at Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He gave all his lands & moveable estate to his three sons: James, John & David. Tjo his daughters: Ruth Baldwin, Sarah Parsons, Mary Bate, Phebe Matoon, Hannah Austin, Abigail Robinson & Eunice Sutliff each 20 shillings. To his grandson, Aaron Parsons, son of his daughter Esther Parsons deceased, 10 shillings. His sons to be his executors. James departed this life on Friday, 1 November 1765 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. James was laid to rest in the Old Durham Cemetery, Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. His stone reads: "James Curtis . . . in the 79th year of his age". [part of his stone is illegible] His will was probated on 2 November 1766.
