Dorcas was born in 1714 in Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Dorcas married James Nickerson, son of Ensign William Nickerson IV and Deliverance Lombard, circa 1730 in Chatham. James and Dorcas had children: Mary/Mercy [1731] [m. 4/18/1752 Thomas Nickerson], Joseph [1734-1764], William [1736], Eliphaz [1739] [m. Sybil Norris], Samuel [1741-8/02/1787] [m. Lydia Phillips], Ezra [1745] & Dorcas [8/24/1748-10/23/1825] [m. 10/05/1767 Jona Osborn].1 Dorcas's husband, James, died before 5 December 1757 in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut, leaving her a widow. Dorcas departed this life in 1803 in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, at age 89 years.
